Frequently Asked

ISO certification can feel confusing at the start, especially if a customer, tender or supplier requirement has asked for it and you are not sure what is involved.

These FAQs answer some of the questions we are most often asked about ISO consultancy, gap analysis, implementation, internal audits and certification preparation. If you are unsure which standard or support route is right for your business, the best starting point is usually a short conversation or an ISO gap analysis.

Which ISO standards do you support?

We support businesses with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001 and ISO 42001. This includes quality management, environmental management, health and safety management, information security management and AI management systems. We can also help where a business wants to combine more than one standard into a single integrated management system.

Can you help us get ISO certified?

Yes, we can help you prepare for certification by supporting implementation, documentation, internal audits, management review and audit readiness. The certification decision itself is made by an independent certification body, but we can help you build the system and prepare the evidence needed for the external audit.

Can you help if we already have ISO certification?

Yes. Many businesses already have certification but need help keeping the system up to date. We can support internal audits, management reviews, document updates, corrective actions, risk registers, objectives, supplier controls and preparation for surveillance or recertification audits.

What is an ISO gap analysis?

An ISO gap analysis is a practical review of where your business currently stands against the requirements of a particular ISO standard. It helps identify what you already have in place, what is missing, what needs improving and what evidence may be needed before certification. It is often the best first step if you are unsure how much work will be involved.

Do we need lots of procedures and paperwork?

Not necessarily. A good ISO management system should be practical and proportionate to the size, complexity and risks of the business. The aim is not to create paperwork for its own sake, but to make sure your processes, responsibilities, risks, objectives, records and controls are clear enough to be used, reviewed and audited.

How long does ISO implementation take?

The timescale depends on the standard, the size of the business, the complexity of your operations and how much you already have in place. Some organisations are closer than they think, while others need more structured support. A gap analysis gives you a clearer view of the likely work, timescale and next steps before committing to a full project.
